My 22 months old boy sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and cries, all the while keeping his eyes closed, and his cries are not the typical kind, but like a loud, low and keening type. Any idea if it’s because of a nightmare, because he’s hungry, or because he wants to play (?!)
We would feed him but he would still be dissatisfied and continue crying. We let him play but even after an hour, he would cry when we put him back in bed. I would cuddle him in bed but again, after an hour or so he still refuses to sleep and cries when I place him back in his bed. You can imagine if this happens (once every 10 days), we are so tired.
The signs you mentioned might be due to your baby sleeping too much in the day, being overly-excited to play, or being frightened by certain situations and things.
Try limiting naptime if possible and avoid over-stimulating your baby during playtime. When he cries at night, be patient. Accompany and comfort him. Try telling him stories instead of letting him play with toys at night to relax him.
